The Chippewa Valley Free Clinic is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist to join the team on Tuesday evenings, a paid position, four hours per week.  Position Summary and Ideal Candidate:

This position is perfect for someone looking for some extra hours one evening a week. The dental hygienist will assist the dental manager and dentist in conducting oral health care to patients by providing oral hygiene assessments, patient education, taking x-rays, dental therapies such as, scaling and root planing and fluoride treatments. The hygienist will provide accurate dental charting, periodontal evaluation, and mouth condition information for the dentist to ensure a complete diagnosis and prescribe subsequent treatment if needed. The ideal hygienist is caring, self-motivated, yet focused on disease treatment, prevention, and oral health promotion.  Adheres to all required OSHA and health regulations.

 Primary Duties:


  • This is a limited term, four paid hours per week
  • Tuesdays 4:00pm – 8:00pm


  • Registered Hygienist, licensed to practice in WI
  • Current BLS for healthcare providers
  • 1 or more years of experience in providing dental services preferred
  • Experience in community-based healthcare preferred
  • Strong communication and assessment skills
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience with Eaglesoft, or similar, dental software preferred


  • Preliminary charting of existing restorations
  • Periodontal evaluation and treatment of patients of all ages, including scaling, root planning, prophylaxis and taking probing depths
  • Administering local anesthesia for scaling and root planning procedures or other dental procedures to be completed by another provider
  • Exposing digital dental x-rays
  • Reviewing and updating with patient their medical and dental histories at each appointment
  • Taking of a patient’s blood pressure at each appointment
  • Providing oral hygiene instructions to patients
  • Administering fluoride treatments
  • Sterilization of dental instruments
  • Placement of dental sealants
  • Educating patients on periodontal disease, oral health and good oral hygiene
  • Complete necessary charting and consent forms for treatment completed at each appointment
  • Clean up of operatories and sterilization areas
  • Seating and escorting patients before and after the appointment
  • Making next dental appointments for patients if necessary
